Chez ce cin\u00e9aste, l\u2019humain est \u00e0 la fois un point d\u2019appui et la ligne d\u2019arriv\u00e9e. Exposer les plaisirs, c\u2019est faire exploser les douleurs. C\u2019est la raison pour laquelle les corps (f\u00e9minins) sont joliment film\u00e9s dans le plus simple appareil (dans Naked Reality ou la s\u00e9quence d\u2019ouverture des Saignantes), car ils sont des armes contre la violence h\u00e9g\u00e9monique de \u00ab la m\u00e9repr\u00e9sentation \u00bb (vision majoritaire, masculiniste, n\u00e9gative et cannibale, du r\u00e9el). Cette violence g\u00e9n\u00e8re la r\u00e9sistance de celles qui sont essentialis\u00e9es : les femmes. Cette subversion artistique (que j\u2019appelle \u00ab outre-repr\u00e9sentation \u00bb) vient contrecarrer les tentatives d\u2019\u00e9viction de l\u2019humain, d\u00e9voile les structures de la violence ill\u00e9gitime et la repousse vers la p\u00e9riph\u00e9rie.<br>Bekolo se d\u00e9fie des fronti\u00e8res et offre un tableau complexe de l\u2019humanit\u00e9 ; l\u2019humour y est central (ses dialogues sont admirablement cisel\u00e9s). franco-burkinab\u00e9<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>En 2017, nous avions accueilli Dani Kouyat\u00e9 \u00e0 Visions d\u2019Afrique avec une r\u00e9trospective de ses \u0153uvres. Il revient 8 ans plus tard, avec son dernier-n\u00e9 en date : <em><a href=\"https:\/\/visionsdafrique.fr\/2025\/film\/katanga-la-danse-des-scorpions\/\" data-type=\"film\" data-id=\"6970\">Katanga, la Danse des scorpions<\/a><\/em>, son dixi\u00e8me long-m\u00e9trage et sa deuxi\u00e8me adaptation d\u2019une \u0153uvre th\u00e9\u00e2trale.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dani Kouyat\u00e9 est tr\u00e8s \u00e0 l\u2019aise avec les l\u00e9gendes et l\u2019histoire. Il faut dire qu\u2019il a de qui tenir : descendant d\u2019une lign\u00e9e de griots, il est le fils de l\u2019immense Sotigui Kouyat\u00e9, auquel il rend hommage dans son premier long-m\u00e9trage <em>Ke\u00efta l\u2019h\u00e9ritage du Griot<\/em> (1995).<br>Passionn\u00e9 de l\u00e9gendes, de th\u00e9\u00e2tre, Dani est conteur tout comme son p\u00e8re et son fr\u00e8re Hassane Kassi. C\u2019est d\u2019ailleurs par des tourn\u00e9es en Europe et aux Etats-Unis qu\u2019il commence sa carri\u00e8re dans le spectacle familial <em>La Voix du Griot<\/em> dans les ann\u00e9es 90, avant de prendre son envol vers le cin\u00e9ma, son autre passion.<br>Avec <em>Sia, le r\u00eave du python<\/em>, son deuxi\u00e8me long-m\u00e9trage en 1995 et aujourd\u2019hui <em>Katanga, la Danse des scorpions<\/em>, Dani joue simultan\u00e9ment sur plusieurs tableaux. Films visuels \u00e0 l\u2019esth\u00e9tique fascinante (<em>Katanga <\/em>est tourn\u00e9 dans un noir et blanc impressionnant), ce sont des all\u00e9gories intemporelles et universelles sur les rapports entre pouvoir, mythes et folie. Dans <em>Sia<\/em>, Sotigui Kouyat\u00e9, son p\u00e8re, tenait le r\u00f4le complexe du Chef des arm\u00e9es.<br>Son ombre plane sur ce personnage de <em>Katanga <\/em>aujourd\u2019hui\u2026<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:4rem\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group px-5 border-bottom\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\">\n<p>Entre ces deux films, Dani Kouyat\u00e9 s\u2019est permis des incursions dans d\u2019autres genres cin\u00e9matographiques : la com\u00e9die musicale avec <em>Ouaga Saga,<\/em> film urbain avec des adolescents (2005). Un \u00ab road movie \u00bb en 2013, co-r\u00e9alis\u00e9 avec Olivier Delahaye, <em>Soleils<\/em>, conte philosophique qui traite de la sagesse dans la tradition africaine et des relations entre Afrique et Europe. <em>Tant qu\u2019on vit<\/em>, son premier film su\u00e9dois sorti en 2015, \u00e9voquait la question du retour, dans un monde globalis\u00e9.<br>Ce nouveau film, <em>Katanga<\/em>, adaptation de <em>La Trag\u00e9die de Macbeth<\/em> de Shakespeare, signe le retour du cin\u00e9aste au Fespaco. Ce festival met \u00e0 l\u2019honneur l\u2019une des plus importantes success story africaine, celle de l\u2019industrie cin\u00e9matographique nig\u00e9riane, n\u00e9e de rien et qui a su s\u2019imposer dans le paysage mondial en une trentaine d\u2019ann\u00e9es. <em>\u00ab L\u2019\u00e9dition 2025, <\/em>dit Serge Noukou\u00e9,<em> pr\u00e9sentait un panel repr\u00e9sentatif : com\u00e9die, drame, thriller et m\u00eame un film d\u2019horreur! Et aussi des th\u00e9matiques sociales importantes pour contrer l\u2019id\u00e9e re\u00e7ue selon laquelle les films de Nollywood ne sont que des films l\u00e9gers. \u00bb<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ensemble, nous avons choisi de vous montrer trois films repr\u00e9sentatifs de la s\u00e9lection 2025 : <em><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/visionsdafrique.fr\/2025\/film\/for-amina\/\" data-type=\"film\" data-id=\"6973\">For Amina<\/a><\/strong><\/em> de Lindsey F. N\u00e9 dans les ann\u00e9es 90, Nollywood se distingue par son mode de production rapide et \u00e0 bas co\u00fbt, qui permet aux producteurs de sortir un film dont le budget ne d\u00e9passe pas 15 000 dollars en quelques semaines seulement. On tourne tr\u00e8s vite et pas cher en une semaine, puis on vend un maximum de copies originales en deux semaines. Tous les genres coexistent : films d\u2019action, com\u00e9dies, films sur les forces surnaturelles, m\u00e9lodrames familiaux. Les protagonistes des films sont sujets \u00e0 d\u2019extraordinaires pers\u00e9cutions et \u00e0 des changements soudains du destin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>L\u2019audience potentielle pour chaque film nig\u00e9rian \u00e9tait de 15 millions de personnes au Nig\u00e9ria et d\u2019environ 5 millions de spectateurs dans le monde en 2014. Un chiffre plus \u00e9lev\u00e9 encore aujourd\u2019hui.<br>Au d\u00e9part, les films produits par Nollywood \u00e9taient vendus directement aux consommateurs sous forme de DVD ou de VCD, gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 de puissants r\u00e9seaux de vendeurs de rues, mais aujourd\u2019hui, ils sont distribu\u00e9s en ligne et \u00e0 la t\u00e9l\u00e9vision dans tout le Nig\u00e9ria, en Afrique et au sein de la diaspora.<br>Dans l\u2019abondance de cette production, de vrais talents commencent \u00e0 appara\u00eetre. Depuis le milieu des ann\u00e9es 2000 et l\u2019\u00e9mergence de budgets plus cons\u00e9quents (entre 150 000 et 750 000 dollars en moyenne), des productions plus ambitieuses et de meilleure qualit\u00e9 parfois appel\u00e9es \u00ab Nouveau Nollywood \u00bb, voient le jour. Les meilleurs films sortent sur les plateformes et \u00e9galement au cin\u00e9ma.<br>D\u2019autant que le mod\u00e8le Nollywood doit son succ\u00e8s en grande partie \u00e0 sa capacit\u00e9 de d\u00e9velopper sa propre mani\u00e8re de raconter les histoires, en dehors des crit\u00e8res occidentaux.
