Il a \u00e9tudi\u00e9 le cin\u00e9ma \u00e0 l\u2019Institut cubain des arts et industries cin\u00e9matographiques o\u00f9 Amilcar Cabral, le leader r\u00e9volutionnaire, avait envoy\u00e9 plusieurs jeunes apprentis cin\u00e9astes, dont Flora Gomes, un des premiers invit\u00e9s de Visions d\u2019Afrique.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00c0 son retour en Guin\u00e9e-Bissau, Sana Na N\u2019Hada documente la guerre d\u2019ind\u00e9pendance puis r\u00e9alise sa premi\u00e8re fiction, <em>Xime<\/em>, pr\u00e9sent\u00e9e \u00e0 Cannes en 1994. Son cin\u00e9ma va se construire dans des allers-retours entre la m\u00e9moire de l\u2019occupation portugaise, les luttes d\u2019ind\u00e9pendance et une m\u00e9ditation sur la force des soci\u00e9t\u00e9s traditionnelles en Guin\u00e9e-Bissau.
