N\u00e9 en Bulgarie <\/strong>dans un village proche de Sofia, Simon Coulibaly Gillard, adopt\u00e9, grandit en Bretagne<\/strong>. Au terme de 5 ann\u00e9es \u00e9tudes d’ing\u00e9nierie m\u00e9canique, entre la Bretagne et Paris, il change d’orientation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

En 2008, un s\u00e9jour \u00e0 Rome le conduit \u00e0 l\u2019achat de sa premi\u00e8re cam\u00e9ra. Son int\u00e9r\u00eat pour le cin\u00e9ma le conduit alors \u00e0 Bruxelles pour suivre un master en r\u00e9alisation cin\u00e9matographique \u00e0 l’INSAS (Institut National Sup\u00e9rieur des Arts du Spectacle et des techniques de diffusion).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tout au long de son master, il cultive une relation forte avec l’Afrique de l’Ouest o\u00f9 il vit et travaille une partie de l’ann\u00e9e. Il y tourne tous ses films, seul avec sa cam\u00e9ra et ses micros, accompagn\u00e9 de son assistant, Lassina Coulibaly<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

En 2013, son premier documentaire \u00ab\u00a0<\/strong>Anima<\/strong><\/em>\u00ab\u00a0<\/strong>est s\u00e9lectionn\u00e9 dans de nombreux festivals, notamment au FID<\/strong> Marseille, au Zinebi<\/strong> (Bilbao) ou encore \u00e0 Filmer A Tout Prix <\/strong>(Bruxelles).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

En 2014<\/strong>, il r\u00e9alise un second court m\u00e9trage documentaire<\/strong>\u00ab\u00a0<\/strong>Yaar<\/strong><\/em>\u00ab\u00a0<\/strong>, film qui est projet\u00e9 dans plus de 60 festivals \u00e0 travers le monde et remporte pr\u00e8s de 20 prix et mentions.Parmi ces prix, il remporte celui du meilleur court m\u00e9trage documentaire <\/strong>au prestigieux festival Dei Popoli \u00e0 Florence <\/strong>et le prix de la meilleure photographie au FIFF de Namur.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00ab\u00a0<\/strong>Aya<\/strong><\/em>\u00ab\u00a0<\/strong>, r\u00e9alis\u00e9 en 2021<\/strong>, est son premier long m\u00e9trage. <\/strong>Il a fait partie des films pr\u00e9sent\u00e9s \u00e0 Cannes en 2021 par l’Association du Cin\u00e9ma Ind\u00e9pendant pour sa Diffusion (ACID).<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
